1. Q: What does the error: "Open Tunnel Failure" mean?
A: Perhaps your mobile carrier requires that you use APN settings. If you're mobile carrier requires that you
use APN setting then you must use it. Please verify your settings here: BlackBerry APN Settings

2. Q: How do I use the Shark Modem each time?
A:1. Please start the Shark Modem Proxy Desktop Application – Start – Programs – Shark Modem ( it will appear in the right bottom hand side of by your system clock of your computer ( as a small BlackBerry icon)
2. Double mouse click this shark modem blackberry icon and it will bring the Desktop Proxy application up. ( the first tab is what you want to pay close attention to called INFO)
The status of the application will probably say “No devices attached” -Plug in your BlackBerry and the status should change to “ Shark Modem not running on handheld”
3. Next find the Shark Modem application icon on your BlackBerry (click /open) the application. Ensure that all the settings are correct. Note: the application must remain open on the shark modem screen during the use of Shark Modem. If you close the Shark Modem application on your BlackBerry the status on the Desktop Proxy (info tab) will say “ Shark Modem not running on handheld”
4. Next configure your Internet Browser with the proxy settings - Proxy: localhost and port: 3128
Note: Internet Explorer Browser select Tools > Internet Options. > Connections > LAN settings:***
When using Internet Explorer make sure that you do not have selected “AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS”
Firefox Browser Settings: select Tools > Options > Advance > Network >***
Google Chrome Browser Settings: select Tools > Under the hood > Network /Change Proxy Settings (Google Chrome uses the same proxy settings as Internet Explorer) Click LAN settings.***
*** When making this change make sure that you choose the option in the proxy settings that says, “Use this proxy server for all protocols”
5. You may began surfing, you now setup.

3. Q: How does Auto Settings for Shark Modem work?
A: To use this feature it involves the following steps:
Note: Always be aware of the status of the Shark Modem application via your Shark Modem Proxy desktop application (info tab)
Scenario: If you are currently connected to the Internet with the Shark Modem the status of the desktop app (info tab) will show Status : Connected.
To switch back to your regular Internet application exit/escape out of the Shark Modem BlackBerry application on your BlackBerry. The status on the Desktop proxy (info tab) should say "Shark Modem is not running on handheld". If you connect to the internet you will now be connected to your regular connection.
Note: In order for the auto option to work the BlackBerry must remain plugged in via usb or bluetooth connection. Once the BlackBerry is completely unplugged you will have to manually change the proxy settings.

5. Q: How do I setup Shark Modem to be used via Bluetooth?

1. Verify that you meet the system requirements to set up a Bluetooth connection.
2. Verify that you are running the Bluetooth software that comes with Microsoft Windows XP SP2.
3. Set Bluetooth wireless technology to Discoverable mode on your BlackBerry smartphone.
4. Pair your BlackBerry smartphone with your computer.
5. On your BlackBerry smartphone, enable the Trusted option for your computer.
6. Configure Bluetooth wireless technology on your computer.
